Stacey wants to live in a world where people see themselves as a part of nature - interconnected with the living world, rather than separate from it. She is a biodiversity nerd and citizen scientist, with a BSc in Biodiversity and Conservation Biology and a graduate certificate in Environmental Visual Communication.
Her communication work has been featured by the CBC News, the Toronto Star, the Royal Ontario Museum, and more. She designed and coordinated the communications and website for the Ontario BioBlitz program from 2014-2019, and acted as its lead coordinator from 2018-2019 as it transitioned to a short-lived time as an independent organization. She is a member of the Biodiversity Education and Awareness Network board of directors, and was formerly a member of the Town of Whitby Sustainability Advisory Committee where she and other citizen volunteers successfully called on the Town to declare climate change as an emergency in 2019. When not running the toy and game store Scalliwag Toys that she co-owns with her spouse in downtown Belleville, Ontario, you might find her wandering the green spaces and conservation areas around Belleville and Prince Edward County, patiently waiting for the perfect shot with her camera or cell phone of a random critter, or often perched on a rock or tree with her nose in a book. She also loves cuddling with her black cats, Poe and Tyrion, and playing and designing board games with her spouse and their friends. Her hair will probably be a different colour each time you see her. |
